Mobile Internet users doubled in a year


The number of mobile phone users who access their mobile phone and the Internet has doubled within the last year. Meanwhile, almost one in five Internet users in Germany (18 percent) by mobile phone online.

In absolute terms, accounts for the roughly nine million people, said the IT industry association BITKOM. Women use mobile phone Internet access, 20 percent more than men who come to just 16 percent. "The Future of Internet use is mobile, and women are the trendsetters," concluded René Schuster, a member of the BITKOM Bureau, summarized the situation.

Some Internet users are already using their mobile phone exclusively online - and not a PC or notebook. For a variety of users ranging from smart phones with the apps to their interests in the network - such as communicating with friends via social networks - fully investigate. The network expansion to higher bandwidth ensures that it is given a corresponding user-friendliness without major delays.

This also benefits those who go with a mobile computer on the go online. A year ago, took one in five (20 percent), laptop, netbook or tablet PC on the road for Web access, it is now one in four (24 percent). In women the proportion rose from 15 to 24 percent.

Overall, sales rise in mobile data services in 2011 is expected to twelve percent to seven billion euros. According to calculations of the BITKOM transmitted in the German mobile network data volume has doubled in the past year more than 70 million gigabytes.
